Day 5 was good enough to bring us the second best showing of the tournament as the Germans dismantled Portugal (who now look very weak) and managed to make my pre-tournament tips of Muller as top scorer and Germany to win look pretty good and then was bad enough to bring us an atrocious match between Nigeria and Iran (oh god it was awful) which is best forgotten I think.
The matches for day 6 are Belgium v Algeria, Brazil v Mexico (the first of the second round of group matches) and Russia v South Korea.
Belgium -2 Goals 11/4
Algeria really aren’t up to much and although Belgium are lacking in experience you look at the quality in that squad and you can’t help but think that they will absolutely batter Algeria. This should be the game in which Belgium go out and show everyone that they may just be serious contenders.
Brazil to win Both teams to score 7/4
I don’t think Brazil looked impressive in their first match and I think Mexico seem better than how they qualified, despite that I think Brazil will win another match but I think they will struggle. Brazil aren’t great looking defensively so are likely to concede and Mexico can’t defend against set pieces, expect the goals and all out attacking.
Russia will win this match because South Korea aren’t very good; simple as that, evens is a gift from the bookies to you.
Dzagoev to score twice 20/1
This World Cup has had a tendency to throw up multi scoring players, South Korea are going to be leaky and Dzagoev has a history of playing well in international tournaments, sounds like the perfect storm really.
The odds for the day 6 games aren’t what I’d call marvellous, that is mainly because they are all fairly one sided and the bookies have finally caught on to the fact that there has been a lot of goals in this World Cup. The goalscorer and scoreline markets are still very weak and generally are best avoided.
