Two games in and the champions are already out, I don’t believe that anyone would have had that happening at this stage of the tournament. Spain put in what can only be described as two very limp displays which were nothing short of embarrassing. There have been some incredibly odd results in this World Cup but none are more odd or surprising than the two Spain scores.
The matches for day 8 are Colombia v Ivory Coast, Uruguay v England and Japan v Greece.
Colombia are much better than Ivory Coast so at slightly better than evens they are an absolute steal.
Uruguay and Both teams to score 6/1
I expect this to be a very open game with both teams scoring and I expect there to be a clear winner because a draw is no use to either. The real question is how good are Uruguay? Pre-tournament I would have said Uruguay were better than England but their performance against Costa Rica has made me very wary. If it was just a blip then I think Uruguay are your winners, if it wasn’t a blip then this prediction is very wrong, I think it was a blip. Uruguay are 13/5 to win this game, which is a very good price when it is such a level game.
Uruguay-England over 2.5 1/1
I think there will be at very least three goals with both teams needing to go for it, so at evens this is a tasty little bet.
Diego Godin to score anytime 14/1
Very good price for a starting centre back, especially when he is playing against a short team in England.
Greece-Japan draw 5/2
For all the world this shouldn’t be a draw but it is Greece we are talking about. Both teams looked limp going forward so I wouldn’t expect many goals either, hopefully I’m wrong because it seems like a dire watch.
The odds for day 8 are much better than the last few days, mainly because the matchups are a little tighter than what came previously. Naturally Uruguay England is the best game of the day and promises to be an attack filled display, hopefully it will live up to the hype.
