Day 10 almost offered up one of the greatest World Cup shocks of all time as plucky Iran came up just short against Argentina. Now I know what you’re all thinking, who wants to see Iran win they play horrible football? And you know what you’re right for the good of football little Leo scored in stoppage time and that was that.
The matches for Day 11 are Belgium v Russia, South Korea v Algeria and Portugal v USA.
It is a tough call for this game; both teams were pretty poor in their first games with Russia in particular looking rather limp. Belgium at evens are a decent price although I’d be happier if they were sitting at 6/4, they should win but I feel like I’ve said this a lot in this tournament…
South Korea 7/5
I really don’t see Algeria doing anything in this match, they need a result because a draw probably won’t be enough for them (not sure they’ll look at it like that) and South Korea will be looking to give themselves the best chance of qualifying possible. Algeria really are dire.
Portugal-USA over 2.5 goals and Both teams to score 11/8
I expect a lot of goals in this match; I think we could see an end to end game as Portugal will be desperate to win the game. Hence I think both teams will score and there will be a clear winner, I’m just not sure who, although I’d imagine Portugal but at 7/10 and after their performance against Germany that isn’t a good price.
Portugal and Both teams to score 13/5
Read what I said above and see the jump in price for what I think is a likely event.
There are a couple of good games on Day 11 and one that looks a bit of a stinker. This World Cup has become a hard one to predict because there has been a large number of surprising results. It makes for an exciting competition but a predictors nightmare (unless you’re betting high odds of course) and is made all the worse by the bookies keeping their purse strings tight making it very hard to find good value bets.
