This is where the real tournament starts, knockout football! How awful was that day off from the football? I know it was like…no football? What the fuck!!! As a side note I didn’t know whether this was day 16 (the amount of actual football days) or day 17 (the amount of actual days), but I decided to go for football days because if there’s no football on then that day doesn’t count, this is true in all walks of life.
The games for Day 16 are Brazil v Chile and Uruguay v Colombia.
Yes this may be controversial but can you really say Brazil have been good so far? The answer is they haven’t and this was hidden away by the fact that they had such an easy group. Chile have the attributes to beat Brazil, namely constant harassing and pace. This in my mind is a 50/50 game, so to get Chile at better than 5s is incredible. Chile and both teams to score is a very tasty 9/1 and if you’re a little more cautious then pick them up at 3/1 to qualify, all very good prices.
Alexis Sanchez first goalscorer 9/1
He is Chile’s best player and most likely to score, keep in mind that Brazil’s full backs aren’t the most defensive and you can easily imagine him getting in behind and scoring on a counter attack. I’m not a big fan of first goalscorer markets because I don’t think that you get much value, but because Brazil are heavy favourites there is good value for Chile players.
Colombia to win and Both teams to score 15/4
I think Colombia will win and despite the fact that Uruguay are missing Suarez they still have a lot going forward. I think Colombia could put Uruguay to the sword and expect it to be an open game.
Colombia to win and Over 2.5 goals 5/2
It’s similar to the last bet but I think it’s a safer one, as I said Colombia will win and I think they may win by a large margin, so it’s a solid bet.
So there are the bets for Day 16, here’s hoping that the knockout stages follow the lead of the group stages and keep delivering us with exciting football which everyone loves to watch.
